At last the first Redwings and Fieldfares have arrived with both being recorded last night and this morning over the house. This follows the first significant arrival on Wednesday on the east coast as I thought might happen.
There were sightings in the east Lancs area of Redwings yesterday morning, but none were recorded the previous night although the must have passed close by. The first call was picked up last night just after eight o’clock. At 01:25 the Fieldfare call was recorded and a further two Redwing calls were detected at dawn. The only other bird related sounds were the usual Tawny Owl call and a chacking Magpie in the middle of the night!
Here’s the Fieldfare recording
