Barn Owl, Dean Clough

This morning’s walk round Dean Clough was intended to look for the first Wheatears of the year. I didn’t find any, but we flushed the local Barn Owl from the path down to the upper reservoir where it had just caught a vole. It perched up on a fence post to the south of the upper reservoir for a while before flying past us giving point blank views which more than made up for the lack of Wheatears. It was a fairly brisk walk round in the frosty air and there was nothing else new to record.
